Use of Agreen agricultural fiber for cultivating potatoes
Potatoes have been grown in Ukraine for a very long
time. This product is widely used in cooking. Potatoes are one of the main
products, the demand for which is constant throughout the year. Summer
residents and farmers grow potatoes to meet their own needs, as well as for
sale. In order to maximize the profit from the sale of potatoes, summer
residents try to grow early potatoes. It has the highest value on the market,
so you can make good money. Those farmers who have storage facilities can
postpone the sale until a later time, for example, during the winter. The use
of Agreen agricultural fiber when growing potatoes will help to get a harvest
several weeks earlier than usual. At the same time, the yield will be higher,
if compared with cultivation in open ground.
In order for the potato harvest to be high, a
combination of some important factors is necessary: air temperature,
availability of sunlight, humidity and soil quality. If you plant potatoes at
the right time and monitor them, you will definitely get a good harvest. The
use of Agreen agricultural fiber will help you to increase the yield by 30%. It
will protect your potatoes from frost, bad weather and weeds .
Potato cultivation technology
In order for potatoes to grow
well, the soil must be loose. Planting material must be prepared in advance.
Light germination of potatoes is used by almost all summer residents and
farmers. In order to use this method, it is necessary to place the potatoes for
a month in a well-lit room or take them outside. At the same time, the
temperature should be 12-15°C, and the air humidity should be 85%. Sprouts
begin to appear thanks to diffused light.
To get even earlier products, you need to use the
method of wet germination. Planting material with sprouts should be laid out on
straw or sawdust soaked in a nutrient solution and covered with the same. If
the top layer dries up, it should be moistened with a solution. Germination in
such conditions lasts an average of 15 days, at a temperature of 12-15°С. As a
result of this method, the tubers form good sprouts and a lobe of the root
system. These two methods can be combined, resulting in a combined germination
that will give a positive result.
There are several technologies for growing potatoes:
- Dutch growing technology;
- planting potatoes under
straw;
- potato cultivation
technology under agrofiber.
Dutch technology
With the Dutch cultivation
technology, mechanical processing should be reduced to a minimum. Aeration of
the soil becomes the main condition, the soil must breathe well. In wet and
dense soils, plants do not develop well, because there is not enough oxygen. To
use this technology, tubers must have at least 5 sprouts, their size must be 40-50
mm. The selected potatoes should be warmed in a bright room until sprouts
appear, then lower the temperature to 8°C and wait until the sprouts reach 2
cm. As soon as the soil warms up, you can plant. Each potato can be cut in
half, this will give an opportunity to get a higher yield. The width of the
rows when planting reaches 75 cm, the planting depth is 8-9 cm, the distance
between the holes is 30 cm.
Cultivation in straw
The technology of growing
potatoes in straw is more complicated when compared with the traditional
method. The secret is to keep the soil cool and moist at all times. This is
very important, because potatoes stop growing at temperatures above 22°C. Due
to the heat-insulating properties of straw, it prevents the temperature from rising.
Due to the difference in temperature, condensate forms, which moistens the soil
and prevents it from drying out. Potatoes are planted in loose soil to a depth
of 7-10 cm. The beds are sprinkled with a 30 cm layer of straw on top. The
second layer of straw will need to be laid out between the beds when the
sprouts reach 5 cm. After that, you will need to make sure that the potatoes do
not dry out.
Cultivation under agrofiber
The technology of growing
early potatoes under agrofiber will allow harvesting already in May. The area
for growing potatoes must be prepared in the fall. Well loosened soil warms up
better. Early potatoes can be germinated in several ways. You can spread the
tubers in a cool room in several layers, boxes are often used. Once a week, it
is recommended to turn the potatoes over and spray them with water. Then
germination will be uniform.
The second method is sprouting tubers in plastic bags.
You need to cut holes in them so that air circulates inside. After the tubers
are ready, you can start planting directly. Unlike a film, Agreen agrofiber
allows air and moisture to pass through, so potatoes grow faster. Bright, white agrofiber lets in sunlight, which has a positive effect on productivity, increasing
it. The width of agricultural fiber can be different, it varies from 1.6 to
15.8 m, and the length of the roll can reach 250 m. This will allow you to
cover several rows of potatoes at once. Depending on the size of the plot on
which potatoes will be grown, you can choose the optimal size of agrofiber. To
cover potatoes, it is better to choose agrofiber with a low density - no more
than 30 g/sq m. Young shoots will be able to grow and develop freely under the
agrofiber. Immediately after planting, the beds should be covered with
agrofiber. It must be fixed at the edges, but you should not pull it too tight.
It should freely cover the planting to allow the potatoes to grow. Agrofiber
protects crops from frost. Since potatoes are planted in the soil quite early,
frosts, especially at night, occur often. The density of agricultural fiber is
17 g/sq.m. withstands frosts up to -2°С, and the density is 30 g/sq.m can
withstand frosts down to -5°C. High light transmission of the material will
allow to receive a sufficient amount of light for good growth. Agrofiber is
also a good protection against insects and birds.
To protect potatoes from weeds, Agreen black
agricultural fiber is used. It spreads on the ground immediately before
planting. Unlike white agrofiber, which can be used for 3-4 seasons, black
agrofiber is used only once. It is best to use 2 types of agricultural fiber,
then your harvest will be reliably protected from frost, bad weather and weeds.
When the weather improves and the threat of frost passes, the white agrofiber
can be removed. But you should not rush, potatoes will grow faster under it.
You can harvest already in May.
If you buy
Agreen agricultural fiber, you will be able to harvest
earlier, thereby increasing the profit from the sale of potatoes. You will be
satisfied with the purchase, which will definitely not disappoint you.
