Use of Agreen agrofiber for cultivating strawberries
Both children and adults love strawberries. Juicy and
ripe berries will appeal to many. It takes a lot of time and effort to grow
strawberries. It is necessary to carry out timely watering, remove strawberry
whiskers, weeding and ensure that pests do not destroy the future harvest. All
gardeners want to get a good harvest while spending a minimum of effort. If you
plant strawberries in ordinary soil, then the fight against weeds will take up
all your time, because they grow at a huge speed. It will be necessary to
constantly weed and loosen the soil.
Today, there is a method by which you can not worry
about the appearance of weeds. Thanks to the use of Agreen agrofiber, you can
get rid of many problems, and the saved time can be spent on other concerns.
When choosing agricultural fiber, you will face such a situation that it comes
in different densities, colors and sizes. Agreen black agrofiber is best suited
for mulching the soil for planting strawberries. Its density should be at least
50 g/m2. Black agricultural fiber will protect strawberries from the
appearance of slugs, ants and other insects.
Using Agreen agricultural fiber will give you the
following advantages:
- Frost protection. To get
an early harvest of strawberries, they need to be protected from frost.
Since the temperature is not constant in spring and small frosts are
possible at night, you should think about ensuring that strawberries do
not freeze. White agricultural fiber will cope with this task perfectly.
Agrofiber with a low density can withstand temperature drops of up to -8
°C.
- Protection from hail,
hurricanes. Agrofiber, stretched over strawberries, will be able to
protect plants from hail. Hail will not harm the bushes themselves. Strong
gusts of wind will also not be able to harm strawberry seedlings.
- Protection from the
scorching sun. Agrofiber transmits light well, but at the same time
retains harmful ultraviolet rays. It is not desirable for strawberries to
receive direct sunlight, as they can burn in the sun or completely dry out.
- Protection from rodents
and birds.
- The optimum temperature
for strawberry cultivation is maintained inside. Such a microclimate is
created under the agrofibre, which has a positive effect on its
development. Strawberries under it are protected from many insects and
pests.
Strawberry cultivation technology
In order to achieve high
results when growing strawberries, it is advisable to use two types of
agricultural fiber of the Agreen brand: black - for mulching the soil, and
white - for sheltering strawberries. Although the use of one of the species can
also give good results. In order to start planting strawberries, you need to
prepare the plot on which it is planned to grow. Agrofiber has a certain width
and length. You need to take this into account when planting strawberries. It
is desirable to make the rows so that the size of the agrofiber is suitable and
it can be easily covered over the strawberries. The width of agricultural fiber
is in a wide range. It can start from 1.6 m and reach 16.0 m. You will
definitely be able to choose the size that suits you.
Black agricultural fiber is laid on the ground in
rows, between which the ground should not be visible. The agrofiber must be
laid so that the edges of one strip overlap the adjacent one by at least 20 cm.
The agrofiber is attached to each other, forming a black area on which
strawberries will be planted. At the edges, the agrofiber must also be fixed so
that the wind cannot tear off part of the covering.
In order to plant strawberries, you need to make markings on agricultural fiber. At the planting site of the bush, a cross-shaped cut is made with a knife. After that, strawberry seedlings are planted. Strawberries do not like deep planting, the leaves must remain above the agrofiber. It is desirable to water the bushes immediately after planting in the ground. It is necessary to water 2-4 times a week, it all depends on weather conditions. Drip irrigation is ideal for growing strawberries. Water will get under each bush and feed the plants. But such a system is not available to everyone, so watering can be done in any way, even through a watering can. Do not forget that excess moisture has a negative effect on the growth of strawberries and can lead to the death of plants.
The white covering agrofiber is stretched after
planting and the first watering of strawberries. It is light, so it will not
interfere with the growth of strawberries. Without it, strawberries will be
exposed to external factors and bad weather. If you want to grow a good
harvest, then you cannot do without white agrofiber at the initial stage of
strawberry growth.
Harvesting
If you used black agricultural fiber, then harvesting will be fast. It is easy to move behind the agrofiber, dirt does not drag behind the feet. Strawberries remain clean and presentable. After collection, it can be immediately sent for sale. Strawberries must be picked every day, as the berries ripen very quickly.
When using two types of agrofiber, you can speed up
the ripening of strawberries by 2-3 weeks from the usual time. If you used only
covering agrofiber, then the crop can be harvested 10 days earlier.
Productivity when using agrofiber increases by 25-35%.
The many advantages of Agreen agrofiber for
cultivating strawberries prove that its purchase is fully justified. You will
be able to get the desired result already in the first strawberry growing
season. Agrofiber can be used for up to 5 seasons, so you won't need to think
about buying new materials to protect strawberries every year. In order to
reuse agricultural fiber, it must be stored correctly. The room should be
closed, preferably without direct sunlight. Some summer residents and farmers
do not remove black agricultural fiber at all. It remains on the ground for 4
seasons, after which it needs to be replaced with new material.
